The Proposal
So after 4 and a half years of being together, I was more than a little anxious to get married! On our 4 year anniversary we talked about how great it would be if by our next anniversary we could be married. Somehow that transformed into we WILL be married by our 5th anniversary... and somehow that turned into we will be married ON our anniversary :).
All of my family lives in Scotland, so once he got his job I was very not-so-subtly reminding him that we need to give my family notice if we are still gonig to get married in March. He told me just to chill out and it will come when it does.
My birthday rolls around, September 1st, and we had plans to go to Benihana, since it is our favorite resturaunt. I was trying not to get my hopes up, but I KNEW that it was going to happen that night. I am actually pretty shy, especially when everyone is looking at me, (I am dreading walking down the aisle!!), so I was very very nervous all throughout dinner, I even had to have a drink to stop shaking! When it was time to leave, I started to calm down and I figured he was going to wait until we got home. We are leaving the resturaunt, and I almost made it to the safety of the car
And then he stops
He gets down on one knee
annnnnd I cry like a baby
It was all so fast, I dont even think he asked me I just started hysterically crying and he came over to me and gave me a kiss. :) It was all very happy and at that point I didnt even care that everyone was looking at us and cheering and hugging us and everything. It was very very nice. But the best part happened on the way home! We had our first "official" date at Benihana, and he told me that he wanted to propose outside on the steps because that was the first place we ever held hands, and thats when he knew he loved me. There I go into hysterics AGAIN.
